The reason we’re all gathered here…
I know you’re wondering, so I’m just going to go ahead and tell you that this is not a weekly newsletter. Or a bi-weekly one. Or a fortnightly one, or even a monthly one. This will be the place where I write excellent pieces, to entertain and educate, frequency be damned. Now I understand that having a clear deadlines and deliverables will probably help me stay committed and consistent, but I would like to try something new with this project, and if it doesn’t work out, well then, we moveee.
There’s really no real reason for me to go against the mold in this regard, except for the need to cushion myself as I journey out of my comfort zone.
Today, I will tell the story of A Yellow Place. It’s is something I’ve wanted to do since I started writing quasi-deep reviews about the tv shows and books I was reading because there was no one to talk about it with. It was supposed to be a medium publication but after sitting on it for almost 2 years, I chose substack because it is new and fresh and exciting and everyone has a substack now, so I must. Yes, I’m that shallow, but I’m trying to be deeper and A for effort, yes? This isn’t the full story but I’m ready to move on.
Next on the agenda!
What I’ve been watching:
One thing about me, I’m always watching something. Sometimes, if I have more time on my hands, I will also hate-watch a few other things. But here’s what I’ve got my eye on these days.
Grey’s Anatomy (GA)
Season 17 premiered this past week, so the Grey-Sloan gang is part of my life again and all is well with the world. I sincerely believe GA answers all of life's questions before you even have them. I learned a lot of empathy and emotional development and healthy communication style from this show. It's not for everyone though, so if you don’t like it, I do not want to hear about it. (this is a dictatorship, but don't unsubscribe pls)
Schitt’s Creek
Schitt’s creek is great, you guys. And that is me being mild with the praise. For a show in its 6th season (I think that was the finale too), it’s very progressive. The one feeling I had repeatedly while enjoying the delicious comedy was wishing that I had watched it when it came out. It off-handedly touches on the concept of sexuality as a spectrum, and has the sweetest depiction of gay love I have ever seen in my life. .
What I’ve been reading:
What I’ve been listening to:
A podcast! Every now and then, I endure people’s talking voices in short doses of 20 minutes and finish a full podcast. This one was 90 minutes long and so it took a long time to get through, but it was completely worth it. Being able to relate with the subject matter in an opposite way helped a lot too, and I hope I remember to explore it a lot more later on.
Alsooooo, I’ve been in my R & B bag really heavy lately, and I have to admit that it might not be just a passing fancy and I now enjoy that sort of music. Welp, feels like old age (because I have this theory that only old people listen to R & B). Oh and I’m still vibing to some a few songs from my fave genres, so I hope you like those additions much as I do.
Look at you! All the way down here! You did it! I hope it was worth your while and you open the next one.
Love & Light.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this issue. What did you like? What should I add or remove? Let me know!
Oh well.... I am reading this post now so I guess it should relate to what I am watching now.... Guess what it's a Korean movie. I've always been a movie person. For music, I can't really say what happened or at what point we fell out, as a teenager I loved music alot and know the lyrics to many but the more I think of it the more I realised that it all happened at a point in my life when I had just myself to listen to, a very deep time of loneliness with no companion but a constant waking up to myself alone and me saying I can live through today. Two years of that, with no source of music... Well
I'm a GA Lover too and I agree with your point of view. It's a nice piece.
